MAJLIS MENANDATANGANI MOU ANTARA UTeM DAN DoSM

Kolaborasi antara UTeM dan DoSM, DoSM akan berkongsi ilmu dan kepakaran statistik kepada para pelajar sarjana muda dan pasca siswazah, akademik dan staf UTeM. DoSM juga boleh meningkatkan kebolehupayaan modal insan DoSM di UTeM bagi mengikuti program ijazah sarjana muda, ijazah sarjana dan ijazah kedoktoran (Ph.D). Manakala kebaikan yang diperolehi oleh UTeM adalah para penyelidik UTeM berpeluang menghasilkan penyelidikan sosioekonomi yang membawa impak yang memacukan negara untuk mencapai Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50) dan penyelidikan yang menjurus kepada matlamat pembangunan kelestarian (SDGs, Sustainable Development Goals) persada dunia dengan data yang dibekalkan oleh DoSM. Di samping itu, pelajar UTeM mempunyai alternatif untuk membuat penyelidikan yang berasaskan analitik “big data” dalam perniagaan pintar seiring dengan penyelidikan semasa yang bercirikan revolusi industri ke-4 (4IR, Fourth Industrial Revolution). Kolaborasi ini akan menjadi asas kerjasama dalam bidang penyelidikan, pendidikan dan pengurusan yang merangkumi aktiviti-aktiviti yang melibatkan pelajar, fakulti dan mobiliti staf.

Program Perkongsian Ilmu dan Peluang Kolaborasi Penyelidikan ini adalah satu peluang baik di mana para pensyarah berpeluang berkenalan berkongsi fikiran dengan Profesor Dr. KS Fam untuk mencari peluang kolabrasi dengan Victoria University of Wellington bagi melonjakkan lagi penerbitan dan pengiraan penyelidikan MyRA. Selain penyelidik UTeM, penyelidik pascasiswazah UTeM juga akan dapat bersama menimba ilmu dan pengalaman Profesor Luar Negara yang pakar dalam bidang pemasaran. 


Majlis Perasmian Makmal Satelit 'Coordinated Malware Eradication and Remedation' (CMERP)

Coordinated Malware Eradication and Remediation Project (CMERP) adalah merupakan satu projek yang dijalankan secara bersama di antara Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) dan CyberSecurity Malaysia bagi menangani ancaman siber khususnya berkaitan ancaman perisian perosak malware. Matlamat ini direalisasikan dengan mewujudan makmal satelit bagi menjalankan penyelidikan dalam menangani isu serangan siber yang membawa kepada kemudaratan dan kerosakan kepada negara.


Melalui kewujudan makmal ini juga, pengumpulan data serangan, analisa serangan dan, pengawalan dan penyingkiran ancaman siber berskala besar dapat dilaksanakan. Di samping itu, perkongsian kepakaran dalam penyelidikan di antara UTeM dan CyberSecurity Malaysia akan dapat menghasilkan produk tempatan yang berkemampuan untuk membantu menangani masalah ancaman siber di Malaysia. Ini seiring dengan matlamat Kerajaan untuk menjadikan Malaysia sebagai sebuah negara maju yang berteknologi tinggi menjelang tahun 2020 yang bebas daripada ancaman siber.

Makmal CMERP telah dilancarkan oleh YB Datuk Wira Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Timbalan Menteri Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi.

UTeM CoE Visit to Institute of Noise and Vibration (INV), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)

The Institute of Noise & Vibration is a centre of excellence of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia established in 1992 offering technical services and industrial research of the University in noise & vibration and seismic engineering to industry.


It is recognised as a referral centre by the industry and government agencies for noise & vibration and seismic engineering in the country. Personnel of the Institute are leading authorities in this specialised field in the region.


The Institute is a self financing autonomous business unit of the University. The Institute consists of highly experienced academic faculty members and full time consulting professionals undertaking all technical services of the Institute. Consulting projects and other assignments are otien secured on a referral basis from the industry and government agencies. We are the preferred technical partners in noise & vibration for GLCs, MNCs and industry leaders in oil & gas, power generation, infrastructure development and construction.


Our design and investigations are supported by extensive and comprehensive use of computer modeling and analysis. We put into practice our strong belief that there must be an engineering basis for design and problem solving ‐ so that key features and/or root causes could be identified for cost effective solutions and remedial solutions could be developed. The formulation of such solutions and design options can only be undertaken when supported by comprehensive measurements, analytical and computational analysis.


Being a technical service provider operating within an academic and research eco‐system, we have strong skills in practical problem solving and design—gained from more than 30 years of hands on track proven experience and continuous involvement in industry driven research. Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) Signing Ceremony between UTeM and  Industrial Partners

HANG TUAH JAYA, 17 March – Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) continues to earn the trust of the industry by collaborating in long-term projects with the signing of memorandum of agreement (MoA) with several industrial partners such as Jabil Circuits Sdn. Bhd, MIMOS Semiconductor Sdn. Bhd, Spectre Solutions (M) Sdn. Bhd, Composite Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM), Aerospace Malaysia Innovation Centre (AMIC) and Stevia Industry Sdn. Bhd. The signing of these high-impact memorandum of agreement shows that the industries give their full credence and recognize the ability of UTeM’s researchers to solve current problems in the industry.


According to UTeM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Shahrin bin Sahib, the signing of the MoAs will create strategic understanding through the exploration of new knowledge generated via research activities and innovation. This agreement could provide an opportunity for UTeM’s researchers with strong academic background to apply their fundamental knowledge to solve industrial problems in the actual workplace. He added that this is an effort by UTeM to help UTeM’s researchers and the industry in general to create opportunities for both sides to work together by complementing their respective strengths which will ultimately benefit both parties. Such cooperation has long existed and become a norm for developed countries like the United States, Europe and Japan. Therefore, the signing of this agreement is parallel with the government’s vision to make Malaysia a developed country in the future.


In addition, UTeM is proud and grateful to all the industrial partners involved in the MoA for providing the opportunities to explore the field of research and innovation collaboratively. This effort is in line with the 7th surge in the Education Development Plan 2015-2025 (Higher Education) which is Innovation Ecosystem. The aim is to create more active cooperation between the university and industry to improve the capacity and effectiveness of the product, and ultimately contributing towards achieving a developed nation status. It also supports the strategic understanding collegiality agenda that is often promoted by our Minister of Higher Education. Moreover, such collaborative work will not only aid in reduction in operational costs, but also ultimately results in higher impact output which is more competitive in both domestic and international market with the consolidation of expertise between the two sides in the long run.


It is hoped that with the signing of these MoA, cooperation between UTeM and the industry will not only boost the research and innovation activities in the technical field, but also in aid in producing holistic graduates, which will indirectly contribute to the welfare of society in general.


UTeM CoE Visit to Universiti Malaya Power Energy Dedicated Advanced Centre (UMPEDAC)

Despite its humble beginnings in the year 2000, a small research laboratory with only a handful of engineering students with limited funds and facilities, UMPEDAC rose through the ranks to emerge as the nationally acclaimed Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE) in Engineering Research Cluster in 2009 that it is today. UMPEDAC’s full range of services today other than the research work and the consultations include professional testing of solar farm applications, continuous professional development programs in practical engineering applications, provision of specialist research facilities for hire, and the postgraduate programs on offer across all fields of power and energy.


UMPEDAC’s success stories had begun with the award-winning 7.5 kW elevator drive prototype, produced in collaboration with MS Elevators Sdn. Bhd. The award was the 2008 AKSA (Anugerah Kualiti Sektor Awam) bestowed by MAMPU (Modernisation of Administration and Management Planning Unit). On top of that, UMPEDAC received a prestigious award for UMPEDAC researchers’ achievement in 2016; Malaysia’s Rising Stars for Prof. Dr. Nasrudin Abd Rahim and Dr. Che Hang Seng under the category International Collaboration and Frontier Researcher, respectively; in 2014; HLAF Lifetime Achievement Award by Human Life Advancement Foundation; 2012, IEEE Industry Application Society (IAS) prestigious award for the paper titled “Asymmetrical Transistor Clamped H Bridge Cascaded Multilevel Inverter”. A current challenge that in due time should also prove a resounding success is the commercialization of a grid-connected inverter; the research work had been funded by UNDP-GEF to the tune of RM2.4 million. Industrial consultancy engagements have so far netted in a total of RM1.5 million, secured via the provisions of CRDF (Commercialisation of Research and Development Fund), Technofund, industry links with MS Elevators (for design and development of hardware and software for lift system) and Prestigious Discovery (for research into SCADA and DPDAS, i.e., District Power Distribution Automation System). UMPEDAC’s vision for an empowered Malaysia capable of a global presence and perhaps world leadership in renewable energy continues to be powered by its mission to improve quality of life for the nation through innovations by its research into power and energy.
